Double wow.

I would love to hear any thoughts you have Roark.

Really telling poll.

I'm not sure what it's telling... but it's telling.

Re: KCG sold to Vertu

"Nice prescient description of their Q1 results. Not much not to like, including that they still think FXCM will work out ok, with about 100% profit on their $300m investment, despite the write-down that was included in the Q1 results. [more]

Re: KCG sold to Vertu

Nice ending for this one. I also wasn't / am not a big fan of the KCG business model, so happy to see this one gone, and love that this worked out so well... they bought well and I think sold well on top of that.

Things seem to be moving [more]

Re: Next - CUSTOMERS BANCORP INC

Joel, thanks for your color again.

BTW, what is "SSG"?

A few notes on IB as a broker.

If you do any of these, IB is likely a winner:
- borrow on margin
- short stocks frequently
- trade overseas shares [more]

Re: Next - CUSTOMERS BANCORP INC

Thanks both for the color on your choices / reasoning.

Appreciate it! I was mostly asking as I use IB, and I'm also an IBKR shareholder, so curious as the reasoning people use to swap between brokers.

Cheers,

Ben

A few changes occurred in my business though.

Re: Brooklyn Investor

Thanks Kelbon for the thoughtful post.

I think you get to the "nut" of it, which is that low interest rates *with* high (decent?) growth... yes, that I agree with. Strange how so often low rates seem to combine with low future [more]

Perhaps I'm confused, but putting aside the argument being put forth by Brooklyn, I don't see the historical correlation in the US or other countries with PE and interest rate clearly enough to say it's anything more than [more]

Re: Earnings

Still many struggles (LAM was really bad for '16...), but the Beef resurgence was a monster.

Looks like Q4 '16 was a $130-140m pre-tax income quarter for National Beef... for a <$700m "book" value entity. Kind of comical [more]
