Re: cash flow vs. interest rates

I've cut our expenses way down, but our monthly obligations are still numerous - mortgage, car loan, lease payment, student loan, utilities, phone, plus min payments on cc debt - and that is just scratching the surface. There's also child care, [more]

Re: thoughts on car loan?

if you get your payment auto-deducted from your account, they'll take another 0.5% off the rate. Check that as well.

That rate already includes the .5% reduction for the auto-payment. It turns out that so many people do that, they [more]

Re: thoughts on car loan?

Good to post here because you know there are people who can't do math and think all loans are bad ;)

I do admit that it took a minute for me to figure out where to post this, and my first inclination was TOB, but then I regained my [more]

Re: golf course suggestions in D.C.

Thanks to all for the replies and suggestions. I am giving all of this to DH, and he's feeling better about the trip and being able to play a round or two.

Keep the suggestions coming! I'll let you know what he ends up doing after the trip [more]

Re: Use Your Head

Oh, that looks wonderful! We love roasted cauliflower (and broccoli) in our house, but I've always cut it up, added chopped garlic and a bit of olive oil, and roasted it like that. This recipe sounds much easier, and is now on my list to try.

thoughts on car loan?

I need an opinion, and am hoping you folks can give me some good input.

DH sold his truck, and is looking for its replacement. He's been trying to find a used truck that meets his specs, but they seem to be rare beasts, and as the clock is [more]

Re: OT? Funeral Home payment

No, I meant what I said. State laws do vary. It is not a safe assumption to believe that the estate is responsible for funeral expenses.

But you didn't say that it varies by state. You said that the estate is not liable for the [more]

Re: OT? Funeral Home payment

Since the estate isn't liable for the cost of funeral arrangements, things can be messy.

Don't you mean that the estate IS liable for the cost of the funeral arrangements? That is typically where the funds come from, although someone [more]

I forgot about that, but yes, we were able to use a credit card for FIL's funeral, and that's what we did because it was the easiest thing for us.

But it does seem to have started, and is now spawning other threads. If the horse is admittedly dead, can't we just let it lie there in peace?

Another suggestion, if she gets this often, is to put a bit of hydrogen peroxide in her ears after she has gone swimming. DD always got ear infections when she was young, and that was one of the suggestions that was given to her by the doctor. I [more]

Re: OT? Funeral Home payment

When we made the arrangements for FIL, we had to give a deposit, and we paid the balance at the funeral before we left for the cemetary, so I don't think the funeral director was out of line at all, and I'm sure it is because he has been left unpaid [more]

If you really need to have the furniture moved out and then back, have you considered calling a moving company to see what they might get for that? It's only a couple of hours of work, and may prove to be less expensive.
