Re: Retired on $30,000 a Year

The one thing I have typically noticed about these folks who retire at a very young age and/or live on a very little amount of money is that they tend to not have children, which don't really allow for having such a nomadic lifestyle.

Re: Free e-book:Pure Income Investing for Retire

Never mind. It turns out that I needed to click on the 1-click buying instead of the free download button, and then it showed up. Somehow, it wanted it to be a purchase, probably so they can track it.

In any case, I have figured it out, and [more]

Re: Raising Credit Score From Zero to 789, in 26

Yes, I know - and that's what stupid about it. Because it really should be a "credit worthiness" score. There should be a "starter" point someone with no history starts out with.

But how do you know if someone is [more]

Re: Socks

I buy the same socks so that when I lose one or wear one out, I just keep the single sock until I lose another or wear another out, and then I make a new pair. It keeps the single sock number down, and I get the most use out of the socks.

Re: Free e-book:Pure Income Investing for Retire

There were 2 buttons when I looked at it. The first was for Kindle users, but there's a 2nd button for the free Kindle app to download to your computer, phone, or tablet. I used that one, and can download the app and get the book for [more]

I have concerns but I'm not sure they are rational. Could they change the rules and I would be stuck with the lower benefit(less than half the one I would receive at 66) ?

I think this is probably an irrational fear. Yes, they can [more]

Thanks. I didn't think to post over here, but I think I will get some good thoughts from this group.

I looked at some using Scottrade's bond finder. I [more]

Re: Market "Crash"

ersonally, I've given up on specific, individual bonds -- commissions and especially trading friction are high compared to exchange-traded securities, so that one would need somewhat-large positions; but then one can't get enough different [more]

Have you talked to the FP about how the bonds were chosen ? Are those decision rules still valid for you to buy bonds on your own ?

Re: Market "Crash"

So you're 100% equities -- no debentures (bonds, loans, preferred stock, bills, "cash", &c) at least in that account.

I don't think that's a well balanced portfolio -- more cogently, neither did Ben Graham, founder of

DD is "dear daughter" so was talking about someone's daughter. You will also see DS (Dear Son) or DH (Dear Husband) etc.

OP means "Original Poster" and in that case, I was referring to you.

Hope this helps.
